Case study 5 - Disputed Ancestry

The Problem

The UKBA having already accepted that a family's grandparents were born in the United Kingdom, subsequently on renewal, asserted that their Birth certificates demonstrating UK Ancestry had been obtained fraudulently.

Our Strategy

DNA samples were taken from the head of household which were then sent for analysis to demonstrate the degree of kinship to a particular Scottish clan. MAGNE & CO instructed a historian who set out the past pattern of colonial settlement which had occurred no earlier than the second decade of the twentieth century.

The Result

Appeal allowed.
